"Mustang Sally" is certainly a rock-and-roll classic, and seems to be one of those songs that almost all young artists cover at one time or another. Phish was no exception, as it played the song sporadically from 1986 through 1988. She rode off in her Mustang, though, and wasn’t seen for over twenty years. When "Sally" returned on 6/14/09 at Bonnaroo (a mere 1,274 shows later), she brought a friend with her, none other than Bruce Springsteen. Bruce had headlined the festival the previous night and reportedly stuck around to see Phish play the next night. Luckily for those in attendance, he also decided to sit in for a few songs: "Mustang Sally" and two Springsteen originals, "Bobby Jean" and "Glory Days."
